Re-discovery of Happiness

During the last few days I came across many articles and materials on the subject of Happiness. Until now I haven’t really researched the subject in the virtual space but suspected many people were concerned and actively “working” on it – giving us advice, tips, sharing their learning and experience.

I realized there are thousands of us out there. Not that I thought I am the only one but there is really a lot written on this theme. What I noticed was the way the information was “served”. What seems to be very “successful” method in presenting an article is the use of numbers and lists – things you have to do or give up, for instance.

This made me wonder. What if I want to be published in some site or magazine one day? Yes, I do dream sometimes… My way of writing is really different from what is popular. In fact, my whole idea is quite different. My idea is one of a journey, process, exploration, discovery. And what we have in the media is “ready to consume” piece. It is like the difference between planning your road trip and taking the bus tour.

It made me think of my approach and helped me realize what my ultimate purpose is.

It started as an experiment – I had no clear idea and goal at the beginning. I wanted to have fun and feel good by doing something I enjoy. But also I wanted to do something meaningful for me and other people. I dared to think I could reach them and involve them in this journey.

Also the theme of Happiness is not something innovative and it came almost by chance. I tried to do some brainstorming and the words I wrote had nothing to do with Happiness. But thinking about it now I am glad I chose it. Because it is the most common feeling and we are all trying to nurture it in our lives.

I am starting to see the real meaning of the project as it builds up. I have established a shape and a tone – a method to communicate my truth with you. It is one of questioning and researching. By asking questions and observing thoughts I am looking deeper into words and ideas. And also by doing so I keep my focus and don’t get distracted.

I think this could be helpful for others too. To place them in the same position of questioning not just assimilating what we are presented. Not to just consume, but to digest as well.

I think many of you will agree that it is somehow discouraging to be told what we should do all the time. I find it a bit frustrating to read the “7 steps to…” or “8 reasons why…” or “1009 instructions on…” It simply doesn’t work this way. And I think it is final time we liberate our senses and set on a quest to find our own ways and things that make us happy.

I am grateful there are so many “happiness warriors” out there. This means we do feel we should restore this state of being as our natural.

However, I would like to invite everyone to question themselves first before accepting someone else’s truth.

I would also like to invite you to join me in my Journey. To help me discover what Happiness is for me and thus discover it for yourself.

So let us join forces and re-discover what is already ours.

Simply, I hope this will make us be Happy once again.

I'm Vilina Christoph and I share my journey of healing and transformation. My awakening was triggered by the death of my mother and sister of cancer. When the feelings became too much to handle, I started documenting my experiences of dealing with depression and anxiety, coping with the loss and grief, and the general lack of motivation and joy in life.  Since the beginning of this journey of transformation I've learned compassion, acceptance and love for myself and others. My mission is to encourage others to look into their pain and take on the path of self-love. By accepting who you are with all your imperfections, by loving yourself fully with all your wounds, you find the strength to be your most authentic self and you unlock your unique gifts in the world.
